Rio de Janeiro Carnival - Pantanal – Bonito
Day 1: 17.02 Rio de Janeiro
Arrival in Rio de Janeiro. Meeting at the airport. Transfer to the hotel. Free time. Overnight at the hotel.Day 2: 18.02 Rio de Janeiro
Corcovado and Christ the Redeemer Statue (4 hours) Today you will go on a tour to Corcovado. Arriving at the station, where the environmentally friendly train will take us through the jungle to the top of Corcovado. On either side of the railway you will have spectacular views from Tijuca forest, inhabited by monkeys and other exotic animals and birds. At the top of Corcovado, at an altitude of 700 m above sea level, stands the symbol of Rio - Statue of Christ the Savior (38m), which was built in 1931. A breathtaking panorama view of the metropolis and its surroundings, the Niteroi Bridge, Guanabara Bay, the Botanical Garden, the Maracana stadium, Sugar Loaf, and more is possible from the top of Corcovado.Day 3: 19.02 Rio de Janeiro
Free time. We advise you to relax and prepare for the big Carnival party coming up! A fantastic evening is waiting for you – Rio’s famous Carnival! You will be picked up at your hotel and taken to the Sambodromo where Brazil’s biggest party takes place. You will be able to be part of this huge festival and watch the representatives of the best Samba Schools of Brazil dancing and singing in front of you in their marvelous colorful costumes. The energy coming from the passers-by can be felt in every inch of the venue, and you will definitely fall for it. Sing along with the coral, dance to the drums, get excited with each School and emotional with it’s components, all this and more. You can enjoy this mind-blowing show the whole night – as long as you want to! You also have the option to be taken back to your hotel – in case you are too tired - after every samba school. Optional (not included) You can participate on the Carnival parade! You will need to purchase a costume from one of the participating samba schools. The cost starts from 350 USD per costume (also you need to pay transfers).Day 4: 20.02 Rio de Janeiro
City Tour and Sugarloaf Mountain (4 hours) Today you will go on a tour to the Sugarloaf. After breakfast a half-day excursion to the Sugar Loaf is planned. The first stop is on Urca Mountain, with a wide viewing area, where you can eat in the restaurant or bar. On the mountain of Sugar Loaf you will have a beautiful view of Rio, Copacabana beach, the bay, the surrounding mountains, islands in the ocean, bridge Niteroi, and the statue of Christ on Corcovado Mountain. Then you will go by car to the central regions of the old Rio, where you will admire several old churches, monasteries, the main cathedral of the city, as well as buildings built in colonial style. Optional (not included)l: Helicopter Flying Over Rio You will board a helicopter at the site on Sugarloaf. During the flight you will see a magnificent sight of the city below, endless beaches, a huge statue of Christ and the Botanical Garden! Flight duration: 8-12 minutes.Day 5: 21.02 Rio de Janeiro-Pantanal
After breakfast in the hotel, our driver will transfer you to the airport for the flight to Campo Grande where a local driver will take you to Pantanal. Pantanal is located in the center of the South American Continent. This is a unique world conservation area located in Brazil. Wetland covered with dense flowering vegetation is the main landscape of the area. Here, lakes and rivers with crystal clear water provide shelter for the rarest specimens of birds and animals. Travelers stay in modern hotel-houses (Lodges), which provide complete comfort and convenience. Pantanal for nature lovers, scientists, fishermen, photographers, people tired of the rhythms of modern urban life - this is the most suitable place. Here you will find peace, watching the life of birds and the huge size of butterflies, listening to the sounds of nature, dissolving in it. During your stay the following tours will be scheduled at the pousada; horse riding, boat rides, trekking, piranha fishing, birdwatching, photo safari and nocturnal viewing of caymans. The trips mentioned above are scheduled at the pousada. The trips will be carefully selected, depending on the climate and time of the year and will be guided by local guides that know all about the flora and fauna that make this place unique. To avoid the intense heath during the day, the tours are taking place early in the morning and mid-afternoon, at these times of the day, the possibilities of seeing the movement of the animals are a lot bigger. During your stay all excursions and meals are included. Overnight at Pousada Aguape. (B,L,D)Day 7: 23.02 Pantanal – Bonito (3,5 hrs)
Early morning departure towards the Bodoquena Mountain Range, where we will visit the Boca da Onça Ecotour. Here a four-kilometer walk across the preserved woodland along totally safe trails will take you to eleven waterfalls, among which is the 156-meter high Boca da Onça Waterfall – the highest in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. Indulge in the translucent natural pools and refresh yourself in the Salobra River, one of the fish cradles of the Pantanal. In the middle of the journey, you will find the kiosk, which provides a snack bar, restrooms and a first-aid facility. A pleasant pause to observe the woodlands and the huge limestone walls. After getting so much from nature, it’s time to return to the reception area, which can be done in two ways: By going up the fascinating 866-step stairway built along the limestone wall, from where you will have an unforgettable view of the Salobra River Canyon and the rappel descending area. Or by vehicle with capacity for twelve people, will be at your disposal at the departing point in the kiosk. On return at the reception center a delicious regional lunch will be serviced. The afternoon can be spend at the natural swimming pools before heading to Bonito. Arrival and check-in at thr Hotel. Overnight. (B,L)Day 8: 24.02 Bonito
After breakfast, visit to the Gruta do Lago Azul. The trail will start with a 40 minutes walk to the cave, then, after descending 100 meters, you will see the lake with crystal clear water. The depth is 72 meters and in the morning when the sunbeams hit the lake, the water will have an intense blue color After we will go to the Rio Sucuri, We start of the snorkeling tour. The tour starts with a visit to the river spring, where you can see the water boiling out of the ground. You are taken to a wooden deck where you start the snorkeling tour along the crystal clear river. The 750 meter long trip you can observe the rich subaquatic flora and fauna. An unforgettable experience. For those who do not want to go snorkeling, it is possible to stay in the boat and descend the river by support boat and enjoy the flora and fauna at the river margins. Optional (not included) Abismo Anhumas, located 20 km west of Bonito, which is like traveling to Middle-earth. This is a 72-meter abyss ending in an underground lake, home to incredible stalactite formations. The first part of the exercise is descending 5 meters down a narrow gap in the ground. Then the chasm widens, revealing a giant crater beneath your feet: a 72-meter drop leads to a crystal-clear lake where you can go snorkeling. In addition to the amazing feeling of descending into one of the largest underwater caves in Brazil, the attraction is very exclusive: only two groups of eight people descend per day.Day 9: 25.02 Bonito – Rio de Janeiro
Breakfast, the transfer to Campo Grande airport when you will take a flight to Rio de Janeiro. After arrival in Rio de Janeiro the driver will take you to your hotel .Day 10: 26.02 Rio de Janeiro
Last breakfast and then transfer to Rio de Janeiro airport.
