Country: Belize

Explore Belize!

The state of Belize in Central America is a corner of a lost paradise, comfortably located between the states of Guatemala, Mexico and Honduras, washed from the east by the blue waters of the Caribbean Sea. The country delights with pristine jungles and virgin rainforests, in the depths of which the ancient pyramids of the Mayan era are still preserved. Almost half of the country's territory is national parks, reserves and the Mayan mountain range.
Belize can rightfully be considered a cult destination for lovers of eco-vacation and sustainable tourism. Researchers of the animal and plant world - zoologists, biologists, botanists come here from all over the world. The forests are still inhabited by jaguars, broad-nosed monkeys, armadillos, very large iguanas and many birds, including various types of hummingbirds and parrots. Hotels in Belize include backpacker hotels, small secluded eco-hotels and luxurious luxury resorts. The coastal zone of the country is lakes with clear water and blue lagoons with unique reefs.
Fans of diving tours, snorkeling and fishing will rightly appreciate the possibilities of the country and its amazing underwater life - after all, more than 400 species of fish and about a hundred corals live here. Tours to Belize are unique in that they allow you to combine a wonderful beach holiday and cultural and historical tours to the pyramids and temples of the Pre-Columbian era of the Maya Indians.

Travel Advice Information

For travellers to Belize

Belize is located on the Caribbean coast of northern Central America. To the east in the Caribbean Sea, the second-longest barrier reef in the world flanks much of the 386 kilometres (240 mi) of predominantly marshy coastline. The undulating courses of two rivers, the Hondo and the Sarstoon, define much of the course of the country's northern and southern boundaries. The western border follows no natural features and runs north-south through lowland forest and highland plateau. The north of Belize consists mostly of flat, swampy coastal plains, in places heavily forested. The flora is highly diverse considering the small geographical area. The south contains the low mountain range of the Maya Mountains. The highest point in Belize is Doyle's Delight at 1,124 m (3,688 ft). The Caribbean coast is lined with a coral reef and some 450 islets and islands known locally as cayes (pronounced "keys").
